The 240 head Lyngate herd is part of Worstead Farms and located in the village of Worstead, North East of Norwich.
The herd comprises of 240 cows and followers and are now registered under the Lyngate prefix as the Smallburgh herd has now been dissolved.
The herd averages 9294 kg at 4.1% fat and 3.1% protein
with the heifers averaging 8469 kg (annual average f0r 2008)
The herd at the moment has 41 EX cows, 70 VG, and 62 GP
The herd is currently averaging 34kg per day, milked twice a day through a 16/32 herringbone parlour
Rationing is TMR with grass and maize silage
Service sires are selected for feet and legs, udders, production and cell counts

The herd has an Elite Health Status certificate, is free of IBR, Lepto, and BVD (with regular monitoring through milk samples). The herd is virtually closed, the only purchases are youngstock which are quarantined until they have been tested, and there are only 3 bought animals on the farm. All cattle have been blue tongue vaccinated.
The herd is TB free and in a 4 year testing area.
